Subway chain now has more stores in Preston than McDonalds.
Subway’s located in Preston are, one on Fylde Road next to the University; three in the town centre itself, one in Bamber Bridge, one in Longridge and one on Deepdale Retail Park, that’s seven stores in one area of Lancashire.
There used to be only one subway in Preston city centre once upon a time. Now there are doubles of every fast food chain. The centre is flooded with choice but what do we prefer, McDonalds or Subway?
Russell Whalley from Brookfield Preston, says, “I’d rather eat subway, because it tastes better”.
Katrina from Leyland says, “I like Subway because its healthier, I just prefer it. I like how you can see them make them. There’s lots of choice you can choose different bread and filling each time, its just yummy”.
Colin Boden from Blackpool says, “McDonalds because I prefer the food”.
Ray usher from Blackburn says, “McDonalds, because I am a fussy eater, and subway doesn’t have anything on the menu that id like”.
McDonalds manager Vicky Townsend, on Deepdale Retail Park says that “our deli range is healthier than a Subway sub, and we don’t charge for extra cheese or to have it toasted”.
Subway is worldwide with over 30,000 stores open in 87 different countries. There were only 25 subway stores in the year 2000, and the plans are to open 650 stores by 2010. These expansions of stores have created many jobs throughout the region, and plans to create many more.
